What it actually measures

A plain price ratio assumes one unit of A needs one unit of B. Legs rarely move with the same amplitude, so the proportion is fitted by regression instead.

log(A) = α + β·log(B)

Hedge ratio β

Fitted on log prices, so a one-percent move weighs the same whether the asset trades at 70,000 or at 0.000005.

z = (s − μ) / σ

Spread z-score

How far the regression residual sits from its rolling mean, in standard deviations. Zero means the pair is at its own norm.

−ln 2 / λ

Half-life

How many bars the spread usually needs to travel half the way back. Estimates longer than the sample are discarded, not reported.

Correlation

Pearson on daily log returns, not on prices: two rising assets always correlate, joint day-to-day movement is what matters.
